Under the supervision of Visual Arts Facilitator Jocelyn Rodriguez and art teacher Lauren Levine, 25 high school art students created PEACE and Harmony of Community-inspired recycled art sculptures from the garbage collected by Operation Stop Polluting, Littering and Save Harbors (S.P.L.A.S.H.)

Designed to clean up the waterways of Freeport, Coordinator of the Arts Ruth Breidenbach and Larry Dresner, Executive Director of the Long Island Arts Council coordinated the event, which took place on location at Operation S.P.L.A.S.H. on the Freeport Nautical Mile.

The students also had a surprise visit from New York State Senator Michael Venditto during the event. The district looks forward to displaying the sculptures at the Peace Concert and Art Exhibit on Oct. 6, and also to working with Operation S.P.L.A.S.H and the Long Island Arts Council in future collaborations.
