Rome and the Medieval World

Reading will include the epic poems The Aeneid and  The Inferno, the epic/elegy Beowulf, and the Arthurian Romance Sir Gawain and the Green Knight

The Medieval World (cont.),  The Renaissance, and    The Enlightenment

develop an appreciation for and understanding  of Roman and Medieval Literature

Readings will include selections from The Canterbury Tales, Hamlet, and/or King Lear, Gulliver’s Travels and Candide

The Modern World

Readings will include Fathers and Sons, A Doll’s House, and/or Ghosts, Siddhartha, and The Stranger.

Students will complete a literary paper based on 19^th Century American Literature.  This will be worth ½  of their 4^th Marking Period grade.
