FHS MATHLETES SCORE DOUBLE VICTORY, WINNING COUNTY AND STATE HONORS

Freeport High School 's Mathletes team has achieved honors on both the Nassau County and New York State levels of competition.

At the first Nassau County Interschool Mathematics League competition of the year, the team gained a milestone victory. Team members Michael Drapala, Sabrina Geraci-Yee, John Gillespie, Daniel Okobi and Jeff Rodriguez all earned perfect scores in competition, placing them among a select group of 20 teams in all of Nassau County.

At the New York State Math League competition, the Freeport team of Michael Drapala, Daniel Okobi, Anthony Goldman, Chris Klimas and Yan Mei Luo, placed 2nd in all of Nassau County, and 13th in New York State.

The Mathletes work under the direction of Math Department Head Peter Bruzzo and teacher Joseph D'Agostino. "This is one of the most hardworking and dedicated groups of students that I have ever worked with," said Bruzzo. "They deserve every victory they achieve."

Winning team members: Daniel Okobi, Chris Climas, Anthony Goldman, Yan Mei Luo and Michael Drapala.
