| The summer of 2004 may have been full of beach days, video game playing
and television watching for some local youths, but for 30 Freeport High
School summer school students it was also a time to learn, complete high
school requirements—and graduate!
At an evening ceremony at Freeport High School, these graduates were greeted
and honored with all the pomp and circumstance of earlier commencement
ceremonies in June by Superintendent of Schools Dr. Eric L. Eversley, FHS
Principal Dr. Michael Courtney and Board of Education President Carmen
Piñeyro.
On the high school auditorium stage festooned with bright flowers provided
by Duryea’s Florist, a keynote address was delivered by the Freeport
Mayor William Glacken. James Trealor, summer school principal, presented
the graduating students, and then each had his or her moment in the commencement
spotlight and was presented with a diploma by Ms. Piñeyro. |

As the ceremony ended, graduates basked in the cheers for their achievements
from those in attendance in the school auditorium, and enjoyed refreshments
with family and friends in the high school lobby.
