New Visions School in Freeport celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month with a series of school wide events that recognized the many contributions Latinos have made to American society.
Each day started with student announcements highlighting the accomplishments of a famous Hispanic American. In classroom activities throughout the month, students shared books about Hispanic heritage, sample native Latin American food dishes, and created displays for the school's many museum cases.
"This celebration helped all our students broaden their understanding of Hispanic culture, and made them more aware of the important work Latino citizens are accomplishing in our country every day," said Principal Renée Crump. |
