Freeport High School Select Chorale
Freeport, New York- United States of America

The FHS Select Chorale has toured extensively throughout the Eastern United States and Canada performing, demonstrating and exchanging with many fine choral ensembles. Their highlighted past performances include: numerous concerts at Carnegie Hall (1997-2004), the Music Educators National Conference Eastern Conference (MENC)-1999; The Tilles Center, 1999; various television appearances; innumerable concerts at St. Patrick’s Cathedral (New York, NY) and the American Choral Director’s Association (ACDA) Eastern Convention- February, 2004 (Boston, MA). |

As a demonstration choir, the Freeport High School Select Chorale has been invited to present interest sessions on: “The Development of a Choral Instrument” for: NYSCAME 1998 - The Balanced Mind Arts Conference (Long Island, NY); NYSSMA Winter Conference 1999- ACDA invitation (Rochester, NY); New York University in 2000 (New York, NY); and the ACDA Eastern Convention in 2004 (Boston, MA). The Chorale has also demonstrated sessions on ‘Spiritual Techniques” Hofstra University 2000 and “Choral Markings in Rehearsal”, NYSCAME 2003. Balanced Mind Arts Conference, Long Island University. The Select Chorale has consistently earned top honors at all New York State group ensemble evaluations. The Chorale has participated in choral exchanges with ensembles from: Canada, New York, Massachusetts and Maryland.

STEPHEN C. PAGANO, CONDUCTOR
Stephen C. Pagano is the choral director at Freeport High School, Freeport, New York. Pagano conducts the sixty voice Mixed Chorus and the thirty voice Select Chorale. Pagano is also an instructor at Five Towns College teaching Choral Methods at the graduate level. Pagano has been recently appointed as director of the Long Island Honor’s Choir at the Long Island Choral Institute. He holds a B.A. in Music Education from Aaron Copland School of Music and a M.A. in Composition from Long Island University. He is currently pursuing his D.M.A. degree in choral history at Five towns College. |

He is member of ACDA (American Choral Director’s Association). MENC (Music Educator’s National Conference), NYSCDG (New York State Choral Director’s Guild), and the NMEA (Nassau Music Educators Association). |
As an active member of NMEA, he has prepared county choral festival sectionals for over twenty- five years. Pagano is sought after as a clinician, specializing in demonstrating a wide range of choral methods using his own Select Chorale. Last February, he with his Freeport High School Select Chorale, presented an interest session at the ACDA Eastern Convention in Boston. Pagano has been fortunate to further his choral studies under the baton of Robert Shaw, Robert Page, Greg Smith, Weston Noble and John Rutter.

ELLEN SCHUTT, ACCOMPANIST
Ellen Schutt received a B.S. in Music Education at West Chester University, majoring in piano and minoring in French horn. She received an M.S. in Secondary Music Education from Queens College. Ellen co-founded and co-directed the Cherub Choir at Grace Methodist Church, Valley Stream, New York. |
She has taught vocal-elementary music in Wantagh, Bellmore, and Freeport, New York. Ellen has served as Director of Music/Organist/Choir Director at First Presbyterian Church in Freeport and Wantagh, New York and is currently Organist/Choirmaster at historic St. George`s Episcopal Church, Hempstead, New York. Currently, Ellen accompanies the Freeport High School concerts and musical shows and has accompanied the Molloy College Glee Club in Rockville Centre, New York, in concerts and competitions. |
