Dodd Middle School recently became the first
Nassau County school to raise more than $1,000 for the Katrina relief
effort in the Nassau Educators Federal Credit Union’s matching-donation
program. The school raised $1,202, and when the Credit Union added its
maximum matching grant of $1,000, the total check, which will be given
to the American Red Cross, totaled $2,202.
Representing
the school, Dodd Principal John O’Mard
presented the school’s $1,202 to Kristin DeJesus of the NEFCU, who displayed
an oversized copy of the check that will be sent to the American Red Cross,
which is taking a lead role in helping fund recovery efforts on the heels of
the devastating water and wind damage caused by Hurricane Katrina, primarily
in Louisiana and Mississippi. |
