Freeport Schools’ Finance
Budget Advisory
Committee

With a few vacancies on the Freeport Public
Schools’ Finance Budget
Advisory Committee, additional members are being sought for the group, which
is charged with assisting the Board of Education by making recommendations
regarding the preparation of the 2006-07 school district budget, and, longer-range,
for future budgets.
The broad-based committee is representative of
the Freeport community, and includes educators, parents, students, former
board members, senior citizens, homeowners, tenants, veterans, business people
and finance expertise individuals. At
this time, the district is inviting applications in certain categories – homeowner,
parent, senior citizen, finance, and resident business owner (business must
be in Freeport).

and at the Freeport Memorial Library, the Freeport Recreation Center, the Freeport
Chamber of Commerce and with PTA and SEPTA leadership. Applications must
be returned by December 1 to Kishore Kuncham, Deputy Superintendent, 235
N. Ocean Avenue, Freeport NY 11520. If there are more applicants than the committee
is able to seat, membership will be decided by a lottery.
Serving on the committee represents a serious commitment
on the part of members, who will be asked to develop an understanding of
the budget process and the educational and financial needs of the district,
and meet regularly beginning in early December 2005 through April 2006. There will be at least eight
evening meetings during this period. If you have any questions, please
