Mom and daughters partake
of a spaghetti dinner at Freeport's Bayview Avenue School "Annual
Book Fair Event." The dinner, donated by local Italian restaurants
and pizzerias, followed a theatrical production of the children's book, "Spaghetti
Eddie," in which members of the faculty and staff portrayed characters
in the book, to the delight of hundreds of children and their parents.
Bayview Avenue's Principal Odette Wills introduced the evening activity
by noting it was designed to "impove student literacy" by "building
a partnership of reading between the school and the family." |
Bayview Avenue faculty and
staff put on a show, depicting the story that was read aloud, in English
and Spanish, to the parents and students attending the evening; this
was followed by an Italian dinner of salad, spaghetti and rolls, donated
by local Italian restaurants and pizzerias.
