FHS WINS THE L.I. CHALLENGE

Freeport Adult Education
Launches Fall Session

Now that the smell of suntan lotion is just a brief memory, it’s time to think about the enjoyment fall can bring. Learn a new skill, take on a new hobby, travel to someplace you’ve never been, get into shape or just have a good time!

Freeport Adult Education can help you make sure you always have lifelong learning as part of your schedule. There are 11 new classes to enjoy. Collecting and Telling Our Family Stories will make a great gift for the holiday season. Cristina Muia will help you collect and save family history.

The Internet can be a troublesome place for parents. Learn how to keep your computer savvy children safe on the Internet. Jalana Harris of Planned Parenthood will offer four sessions of invaluable information for parents. Learn about “My Space,” help your child gain “Self-Esteem,” open lines of “Communication” and learn what you can do to combat “Sex and the Media.” All four sessions are $35.

You asked for it…! Bone–Building Workout will be held two nights. Build bone mass and become stronger. Jessica Gilbert targets areas most likely to lose bone mass. Tighten and strengthen your abdomen, pelvis and spine. Attend one class or two per week. Attend two classes per week and register before October 6, 2006 and you’ll pay only $87.

With the holiday season fast approaching, you’ll have the opportunity to wow your friends and family with decorated cakes. Cake Decorating is a hands-on course. You will get all the tools you’ll need to create beautifully decorated cakes for any occasion. Ronnie Gavarian will teach this three-night course.  Also joining us will be Lucy Van Horn who will demonstrate how to make edible floral arrangements in a course entitled “Please Don’t Eat the Daisies.” Whether you are entertaining or thinking of starting a business, Lucy will guide you through. This is a one night demonstration.

Many people are finding themselves caregivers for their parents. Michael Pfeiffer, a Long Island attorney, will help guide you through some of the difficult choices which need to be made. The one-night seminar My Parents are in Crisis! What Do I Do Now? will be your resource.

Have you ever wondered if anyone famous was a relative? Nolan Altman will teach you How to Research and Document Your Family History: Genealogy Workshop. This one-night session will teach you to research your family tree.

Thinking of a new career? Paulette Isoldi will teach How to Become a Travel Agent. Dina Elardo will teach Notary Signing Agent. Be your own boss.

Having difficulty knowing where you’re going? Renee McClure will help you Redesign Your Net Worth. This isn’t about your finances, it’s about you. Find your best skills and capitalize on them. Then Cheryl Lee will help you with Effective Communication Skills. Get that promotion, handle problems better, and build confidence.

Frank Sinatra-The Legend has Bob Lippet presenting a fabulous film lecture on the life of Frank Sinatra during the afternoon. Fascinating stories accompanied by film clips will show why Sinatra is the entertainer of the century.

Scrapbooking, crocheting, piano, Spanish, Reiki, Senior Workout, Aerobic Plus Abs, Oil Pastel, trips to fun and sometimes far away places, tennis, kickboxing, retirement and pension seminars, and more are among adult education offerings. Register early to ensure a place.

Registration can be done by mail, in person, fax or phone. The program accepts check or credit cards.
