Hendrickson was selected by
the station after a review of nominations
from faculty and staff at various Long Island schools. In addition to
her teaching, she has been an assistant coach of the high school girls'
basketball team and coach of the girls' tennis team, which received the
New York State Public High School Athletic Assocation Scholar-Athelete
Team Award. She is active in the community and coordinates food and
clothign drives thorughout the year for Freeport residents and for
national and worldwide disaster-relief efforts. In 1998, Hendrickson was
named "Educator of the Month" in the program sponsored by
