Freeport High School and the
entire school community rejoiced recently when the Freeport Red Devils
capped off an exciting homecoming celebration with a 30 – 10
victory over the Farmingdale Dalers on the football field.
While the Red Devils collectively displayed
concepts of “teamwork,” running back Will Porter rushed
194 yards and scored three touchdowns on 14 carries. Another player,
Chris Edmond, rushed for 134 yards on 15 carries, part of 531 yards total
offense for the team.
Additional highlights of the day included Freeport’s
first-rate marching band, the award-winning cheerleaders, and a host
of teachers, staff, students, parents and community residents who came
out in full force to volunteer their time and effort manning tables equipped
with face paint and glitter, food, arts and crafts and a multitude of
other activities. |
The homecoming court was buzzing as well as the proud winners paraded
the grounds and greeted visitors while sporting huge smiles. Congratulations
to: Christina Evans, Queen; John Micculli, King; Monica Puentes, Princess;
Clifford Jackson, Prince; Kelly Jewels, Dutchess; Mark Kerr, Duke; Cailyn
Cowan, Countess and Valon Vailes, Count.
To top it off – it was a gorgeous sunny day – just
what the Freeport community needed as it celebrated this traditional
and much anticipated event. |
