Dr. Jane Albert, a highly experienced special education
administrator, is Freeport’s new Director of Pupil Personnel Services.
Dr. Albert will manage special education programs and instructional and
support staff, formulate and implement policies related to students with
disabilities and oversee curriculum and instruction for special students. |
Dr. Albert has headed similar programs
in the North Bellmore and Plainview-Old Bethpage school districts and
was principal of a high school for students with special needs in upstate
Dobbs Ferry. Some of her responsibilities in these jobs were grant writing,
performance assessment, academic intervention services, data reporting,
professional development, crisis prevention and intervention, and home
instruction, She also
has experience as a general education teacher and as a teacher of speech
and hearing.

As an associate professor in the Graduate
Division of Molloy College’s Education Department, Dr. Albert teaches classes
in autism, assessment and instructional methodology for children with learning
differences. She has also taught at Queens College CUNY and in the New
York City public schools. She received her bachelor’s degree from
Emerson College, and earned a master’s degree in education and a
professional diploma in educational administration and supervision from
Queens College CUNY. Dr. Albert’s Ed.D., in Foundations, Leadership
and Policy, is from Hofstra University.
