FHS WINS THE L.I. CHALLENGE

Freeport Students Tapped For Gifted Program

Freeport students Nicholas Brown and Nana-Efua Essuman, fifth graders at Atkinson School, and Kyle Dawson, a Dodd Middle School seventh grader, have been designated “Young Scholars of Mathematics” by SUNY Old Westbury’s Institute of Creative Problem Solving for Gifted and Talent Students.

The three will attend Institute upcoming Saturday academic sessions at the college.

These sessions are designed to help high ability math students broaden their mathematical knowledge and develop sharp thinking and problem-solving skills. The sessions are funded by alumni of the program as a contribution to the pursuit of excellence in science and mathematics.

Nicholas, Nana-Efua and Kyle were required to have recommendations from their mathematics teachers, submit a transcript of their grades and complete an entrance examination administered on campus.
