FHS WINS THE L.I. CHALLENGE

Freeport Students Earn Award At MLK Dance Competition

Ten students from the Freeprt’s Caroline G. Atkinson School danced their way into a second place win in the annual “Youth on Parade” competition in celebration of Martin Luther King Day, earning honors for themselves and a plaque for their school. Under the direction of music and dance teacher Eleana Koondel, the students performed a dance based on a theme of a speech of Dr. King. The competition was open to students in Nassau County schools, and was conducted at Malverne Middle School; the awards were presented in January at a ceremony at the Adams Playhouse at Hofstra University.

The students are: Briana Bennett, Indonesia Charles, Jazira Clahar, Leenora Drummond, Rhoda Exinor, Kierra Harvey, Nicole Johnson, Tiffany Ramos, Natasha Sandoval and Trianna Watts.
