FREEPORT,
N.Y., June 12, 2007 – We always think of
summer and fun as synonymous. Let this summer’s fun include a class
in Adult Education. Whether
it’s learning to sail or learning to belly dance, Freeport Adult
Education has a class for you.
Did your children buy you a computer?
Is it still in the box or on top of the desk collecting dust? Make
them proud. Take Computer Comfort and start using it. Wish you
could Google? Find out how. Camila Sierra is joining the staff
with Exploring the Internet. Experienced users can take PowerPoint
or Excel. Brush up on your computer skills. Whether you are a novice
or more experienced, these classes can get you on track.
You asked for it! Several people wrote and requested
information on operating a home-based childcare business. Bonnie
Montalbano, from the Nassau County Childcare Council, will teach
all the state regulations and how to get an application.
Ever thought of a career in voice-acting or commercials?
Jenny Marcotte will be back to get you started.
Freshman year can be both an exciting and frightening
experience. Karen Barrow and the College Survival Workshop will give
you the inside information colleges never tell you.
New this summer is Self-Defense with Marvin German.
He will teach practical and efficient self-defense applications to
protect against bigger and stronger opponents.
Residents are also encouraged
to sign up for Defensive Driving, Bone-Building, Belly Dancing,
Yoga, Tai Chi, Senior Workout and so much more. Many of your favorite
instructors are coming back!
Freeport Adult Education also offers English for
Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) and General Educational Development
(GED) classes in daytime and evening schedules. Students must be
21 years-of-age and over to register.
Don’t let the summer pass
you by. Register now
and bring a friend. Catalogues will be mailed to all homes in Freeport
and can also be found HERE.
Credit cards are accepted. The Freeport Adult Education Office is
