According to the district’s Art Facilitator Catherine Rode, the students collaborated with their
teachers while deciding what types of works to craft. The result is a fun and colorful mix of pieces
depicting Native-American and medieval art, cities and buildings, the four seasons and animal themes,
and seasons and self-portraits.
“Through the gallery experience, the children are learning to view, analyze, describe and assimilate information and stimuli visually, verbally and kinesthetically,” Rode said. “Having the students’ art exhibited in the library allows them to see other people value their personal expressions.” |
District Coordinator of the arts Charles Puricelli acknowledged the library for its support. “Each year, our students are guaranteed space for this exhibit,’ he said. “We appreciate the efforts of
the entire library staff.”
The event was dedicated to Art Teacher Karen Rosenstock from the Atkinson School. “It’s an honor
to have this exhibit dedicated to me,” Rosenstock said after being given a heart necklace during the reception. “I feel very happy right now.” |
