he Freeport Memorial Library
showcased the creative talents of Freeport’s best secondary art
students during its annual exhibit. But students were not the only
ones in the spotlight.
During a reception for the exhibit’s kick-off, students and staff turned
attention to Charles Puricelli, Freeport’s coordinator of the arts,
to honor him for his 36 years of service. Puricelli is retiring after
the school year ends.
Set among a spectrum of specially selected artwork by Dodd Middle School
and Freeport High School students, Puricelli said he was humbled by staff
and students.
"I am so proud of the whole art department," he said. "I am lucky to
have worked with such a tremendous group of people. It has been very
rewarding to work with such talented kids and such a dedicated staff."
Puricelli, who said he considers himself a strong advocate for the
arts, plans to stay active in organizations such as the New York State
Council of Administrative Music Educators and the Nassau County Music
Educators Executive Board. |
