Recent Freeport High School Graduate Named A Claes Nobel Academic Scholarship Semifinalist

Kimberly Lipman-White, a recent graduate from Freeport High School, was named a semifinalist for the Claes Nobel Academic Scholarship by The National Society of High School Scholars. The society is an honors organization founded by Claes Nobel, the senior member of the family that established the Nobel Prizes.

Third in her class, Lipman-White was selected as a semifinalist from among 11,000 applicants based on her academic excellence, leadership and service activities. Considered by her classmates as focused and dedicated with a fun-loving spirit, Lipman-White was involved in numerous school activities including National Honor Society, Freeport Public Schools Budget Committee, Odyssey of the Mind, Yearbook, Key Club Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) and the Class of ’07 Committee. She also played tennis and ran track. Among her favorite activities, however, are community service and travel. She recently traveled to Ireland, England and Wales with People to People, a student-ambassador program. This fall, Lipman-White will study biochemical engineering at Columbia University and is setting her sights on pursuing a doctoral degree."I am continually working to achieve more and accomplish more," Lipman-White said. "I am a genuinely hard-working person and I am honored to have been chosen as a semifinalist for this award."
