Promising to be an exciting event for both participants and visitors, the science fair not only rewards academic achievement, but also encourages exploration in the fields of science, technology and mathematics.
By welcoming other Freeport students and their neighbors, the 150 entrants in the event can inform the public about cutting-edge research and technology while competing for cash prizes, research fellowships and scholarships. Last year’s winners were offered nearly half a million dollars in scholarships for their work on diverse projects such as electromagnetism, protein synthesis, stem cell research and cognitive development in mice. Students also hope to inspire their schoolmates to consider careers in science- and math-related fields. |
Judging for the entries will take place on the morning of March 22, from 8:30 a.m. to12 p.m. in the school’s gymnasium. The awards ceremony is slated to take place on April 26, at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium. The winners of the Science and Engineering Fair will be given their awards on this date, and the students extend an invitation to the community to attend this important event as well. |
