Stefani
Plummer:
A Leader Who Knows How to Motivate
Her Peers
and Produce Results
You won’t find many pictures of Freeport senior Stefani Plummer in the
yearbook this year, but it’s not because she’s not deserving of
the honor. In fact, if she weren’t taking the photos herself, Plummer
could be a sort of poster child for the ideal high school student.
She is the “it” girl... the “go to” girl… the
one everyone relies on to get things done… the one teachers and students,
alike, trust… always smiling… she’s a friend to everybody… and,
not intimidated by cliques.
“She’s reliable, hardworking, mature and able to get people involved,” said
Natalie Ramos, Plummer’s guidance counselor. “She’s also
a great student, a leader.”
Plummer’s long list of activities include: Secretary of National Honor
Society, President of Yearbook Club, President of Rachel’s Challenge
Club, a member of Operation Pride: A Drug-Free Program, a member of the prom
committee for Class of ‘07 Committee, a member of Interact Club
and a member of the Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA). She has
earned high honor roll status throughout her high school career.

Plummer is also very attune to the need for volunteerism and community service
and has served in capacities such as tutoring for Homework Express, speaking
to middle schoolers at Early College Awareness Day, helping pre-teens break
the clique barrier during Mix-It Up Lunch Day, participating in breast cancer
walks, serving meals at soup kitchens and helping supervise children in vacation
bible school.
Aside from volunteering, Plummer has been babysitting for four years and
has worked part time.
Modest about her accomplishments, Plummer says
the most meaningful thing to her is helping people. She will attend Hofstra
University in the fall to study psychology. She is considering a career
in education.
“I couldn’t work in an office,” she said,”I need to
be somewhere working with youth. That’s where I would be happy.”
According to Ramos, Plummer will be awarded the
highest monetary honor given by the high school. She will receive four
separate awards on Awards Night, June 23.
