“I was very excited about winning,” Donald said. “They put up a poster for me after I won.”
He then took the next step in the spelling bee circuit — a written test that was administered in February at the Hebrew Academy of Nassau County in Plainview. The event, sponsored by the Long Island Jewish World, was conducted in preparation for attending the Scripps National Spelling Bee. School officials have not yet heard if their champion has qualified.
Donald is an absolutely delightful young man,” said School Principal Linda Carter. “He is not only a very hard worker who displays discipline when it comes to his work and study habits, but has an uncanny ability to apply what he has learned or watched to fit into any conversation. I believe that his extensive knowledge in science and math has given him that edge to spell even the most difficult words at his age. We wish him the best of luck as he moves on to the next round of the spelling bee circuit.”
