FREEPORT, N.Y. Jan. 29, 2008
By Theresa Giusto/Felicia Febrizio

Archer Street student Diego Magana from Sylvia Moriera’s fourth-grade class has won the recent Archer Street Spelling Bee and will move on to represent the school in the semi-finals. Twelve students from the school competed for the title—two from each fourth-grade class—after winning classroom contests. The semi-finals will be held at the Hebrew Academy of Nassau County in Plainview on February 13. The event is sponsored by the Long Island Jewish World in preparation for attending the Scripps National Spelling Bee.
