Freeport Student's Artists Showcase

Several student-artists with Freeport art teacher, Eleanor Barry (second from left), Freeport Facilitator of Art, Catherine Rode (Second from right) and art teacher Thomas Alma (far right).

The walls of the Freeport Public Library provided the perfect canvas to showcase the creative work of selected student-artists from Freeport High School and John W. Dodd Junior High School.

"The arts are an important facet of our curriculum," Freeport High School Facilitator of Art Catherine Rode stated. "The library provides the perfect venue to highlight students' creative expertise."

To open this year's exhibit, the library hosted a special reception for the students and their invited guests. The exhibit of artwork was displayed in a gallery-like setting allowing those at the reception to appreciate the unique talents of these young artists.

"Year after year, the exhibit gets better and better," Freeport School District Coordinator of the Arts Charles Puricelli said. "Our students are so creative, and no two students create in the same way." As those in attendance moved from one painting to the next, there was an overall sense of amazement at both the quality of the work and theage of the artist.
