Pumpkins, parades and costumes galore filled Freeport Schools this Halloween
In a spirited move that had students, staff and families filled with excitement, Freeport Public Schools hosted Halloween celebrations in each of the district’s eight schools for the first time in years. Wearing fun costumes of different characters, such as Captain America, Wonder Woman, Spiderman and Queen Elsa, both students and staff participated in parades, pumpkin patches and other spooktacular activities on Oct. 31.

Superintendent of schools Fia Davis, worked with district administrators and principals to create a fun and safe Halloween environment.

“It is important for our students to have moments of joy and creativity as part of their educational journeys,” said Ms. Davis. “Each school has done an outstanding job of making sure the students are having fun enjoying the Halloween season but also enriching things they have learned in the classroom.”

At Columbus Avenue School, students participated in a parade and fall festival in the gymnasium which included a leaf pile, pumpkin toss, pumpkin maze and apple bobbing.

Archer Street has hosted a trunk or treat where teachers decorated their trunks with themes like the Wizard of Oz, Harry Potter and Charlie Brown.

The lawn of Bayview Avenue was filled with pumpkins for students to choose from, followed by a trunk or treat filled with candy and snacks.

Dressed as Wonder Woman, Superintendent Davis and the administrative cabinet visited each of the schools and wished students a safe and Happy Halloween.
