Columbus Avenue’s Discovery Day sends students on space-themed adventures
Kindergarten students at Columbus Avenue launched into a world of exploration during the school’s annual Discovery Day on May 15.

The exciting, space-themed event kicked off in the gymnasium, where students participated in a variety of hands-on activities including rover races, a comet toss and moon sand play. They also sorted rocks and engaged in other interactive missions designed to spark curiosity about outer space.

Back in their classrooms, students read space-themed books, learned about the planets in the solar system and discovered the day-to-day life of astronauts.

Adding to the immersive experience, teachers transformed hallways and classrooms into stunning space exhibits. Students toured the building, which featured imaginative displays of planets, comets, meteors, constellations and the sun.

Columbus Avenue’s Discovery Day proved to be an out-of-this-world experience for the district’s littlest learners.
