Freeport High School senior Jayden Gordon has been selected as the New York Jets High School Player of the Week. Gordon, a wide receiver on the Red Devils varsity football team, was pivotal in the team’s 47-0 victory over the Hicksville comets on Sept. 27. Gordon led the team, scoring three touchdowns on a 95-yard kickoff return, 20-yard interception, and a 14-yard reception.
“We are incredibly proud of Jayden for being named the New York Jets Player of the Week,” said Jonathan Bloom, director of health, physical education, athletics and safety education. “Jayden works hard on and off the field, the true embodiment of our program. We can’t wait to see what he achieves for the rest of the season.”
The recognition allows Jayden to be celebrated on-field at the New York Jets vs. Seattle Seahawks game on Dec. 1, at MetLife Stadium. In addition, Jayden will have a $1,000 donation in his name to the Freeport High School football program on behalf of the New York Jets and Gatorade.
Congratulations to Jayden Gordon on this wonderful recognition.
