Amy Lederer
Principal
Summer 2022
Dear Giblyn Parents and Families,
I am so honored to be the principal of Leo F. Giblyn School. I have worked in the Freeport Public Schools for over 20 years and know that it is the most wonderful community. I began my career as a kindergarten teacher at Columbus Avenue School. I then moved to Giblyn where I taught kindergarten, first, third, and fourth grades. I served as the Assistant Principal here for the five years with Mrs. Muldowney as the principal. When Mrs. Muldowney retired in 2021, I assumed the role of principal and I love it.
Giblyn is the “Passport to Learning” school where we celebrate different cultures. Our staff is amazing and dedicated. We believe “Kindness Matters” and our students not only work hard academically, but they are encouraged to participate in various clubs and activities such as: art, band, chorus, literature, magic, orchestra, STEP, Yearbook, and more, to activate their brains in different ways.
I want to assure you that your children will come to a school every day where they are educated, respected, and loved. We know that your child is the most important person in the world to you and everything we do has your child’s health, safety, happiness, and education as the priority.
We are excited to see our Giblyn Superstars back at Giblyn on August 31. Enjoy your summer. Read, read, read, have fun, be kind, and enjoy the time with your friends and family.
Best,
Amy Lederer
Principal
