The National Seal of Biliteracy affirms the value of diversity in a multilingual society. The Seal recognizes high school graduates who have attained a high level of proficiency in English and one or more world languages. 257 Seals of Biliteracy have been awarded to Freeport graduates from 2017-2022.
The intent of the Seal is to:
- prepare students with twenty-first century skills
- to identify high school graduates with language and biliteracy skills for employers
- to provide universities with additional information about applicants
- to encourage the study of languages including the continuance of one's own language, to increase global understanding and communication.
