New Visions Museum School of Exploration and Discovery
Entering the doors of New Visions, Freeport's first Magnet School, one is immediately struck by student art work and artifacts in the grand lobby. Such exhibits are on display throughout the building and are a reflection of the school’s museum theme. The newest of the district’s schools, New Visions, provides opportunities for students to explore their world first-hand. Through partnerships with Cradle of Aviation Museum, Hofstra Museum and Long Island Children’s Museum, children investigate the world through the study of documents and objects and are encouraged to convey what they have learned in a variety of ways. Teachers participate in on-going staff development opportunities to examine and implement best instructional practices. Our inter-disciplinary approach to teaching and learning ensures that students are given the tools for college and career readiness. In addition to the academic program, New Visions encourages good citizenship through the teaching of 5 core principles-“be safe”, “be caring”, “be respectful”, “be responsible”, and “be here and be ready” to learn
Constructed in 2003, New Visions is unique in design and boasts a state-of-the-art building that is child-friendly and able to accommodate the 21st century learner. Classroom suites allow for large and small group instruction to best meet students’ needs. A focal point of our school is our ultra-modern library which affords students and teachers the space and technological tools to enhance their studies through a variety of media.
New Visions enjoys partnering with our parents and looks forwards to such events as Discovery Day, Parents as Reading Partners, STEAM Night, Valentines Sweetheart Dance and more.
