Students Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month

The auditorium at Caroline G. Atkinson School was filled with the sounds of music celebrating Hispanic heritage and traditions as part of Hispanic Heritage Month. The program was narrated by students Joaquin Rodriguez and Cassandra Turcios.

“It was a wonderful experience seeing our students using their musical and performance talents to share their pride in their heritage and musical traditions,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Kishore Kuncham.

Students from several grade levels entertained the audience with their beautiful renditions of traditional songs, dances and games from Chile, Columbia, Mexico, Puerto Rico and more. Some of the featured songs and dances included: “Rompas Mi Corazon,” a Mexican line dance, “Los Pollitos,” a Chilean song, “A La Lata,” a Columbian chant and game and “Dia De Los Muertos,” a Mexican folk song and dance.
