The Freeport Council of Parent Teacher Associations is a member of the Nassau District PTA of the New York State Congress of Parents and Teachers and is a branch of the National PTA. The Council serves as a coordinating body through which the individual school PTAs can join together to exchange ideas and information.

The children of Freeport have been faithfully served by this organization since its inception in 1923. Since its beginnings as a Mother's Club that purchased milk for Freeport students in the early part of the century, the PTA has always been a strong advocate for children. Its main goals are:

  • To promote the welfare of children in the home, school and community.
  • To raise the standards of home life.
  • To secure adequate laws for the care and protection of children and youth.
  • To bring the home and school into a closer relationship, so parents and teachers may cooperate intelligently in the education of children and youth to develop such united efforts between educators and the public, as well as secure for all children and youth the highest advantages in education.
