The Seal of Biliteracy
The Seal of Biliteracy

The National Seal of Biliteracy affirms the value of diversity in a multilingual society. The Seal recognizes high school graduates who have attained a high level of proficiency in English and one or more world languages. Over 500 Seals of Biliteracy have been awarded to Freeport graduates since 2017.
The intent of the Seal is to:
- prepare students with twenty-first century skills
- to identify high school graduates with language and biliteracy skills for employers
- to provide universities with additional information about applicants
- to encourage the study of languages including the continuance of one's own language, to increase global understanding and communication.
