Freeport Public Schools

The students, staff and administrators from Bayview Avenue Elementary School celebrated Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s life and legacy on Jan. 18 by marching arm-in arm through their school.

While the song “We Shall Overcome” played through the speakers, students smiled and sang along with the song.

During this event, which happens annually, students from every grade walk from their classrooms through the hallways of the school while reflecting on the ways peace and nonviolence can bring people together.
