The Freeport Public Schools Board of Education ended 2023 with a meeting full of celebrations for the outstanding achievements of Freeport students.

The Freeport High School Sinfonetta, under the direction of Jill Boardman, greeted guests with beautiful, festive music for the holiday season.

Freeport Educational Foundation representatives Patricia Fulton-Lawrence and Debra Mulé presented the board of education with a generous donation of $37,160. The donation from the Freeport Educational Foundation will be used to support the implementation of innovative grants and scholarships in the school district.

“The Freeport Educational Foundation is changing lives in Freeport and we are grateful to this foundation for being able to raise funds for our district,” said Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Kishore Kuncham. “With these donations, they have given our educators the opportunity to begin working on innovative programs for our students that will include hydroponic gardening, LEGO Robotics, quantum information sciences, cultural exploration and global awareness, and commercial food production. These are just a few things we can look forward to bringing to our students because of the FEF.”

Freeport High School Principal Gisselle Campbell-Ham proudly introduced the Class of 2024 top 10. Dr. Kuncham, board members and administrators each read the students’ impressive resumes including their academic achievements, school and community involvement, and college and career goals. 

“It is my pleasure to recognize the top 10 students of the Class of 2024. These students have amazing accomplishments in the classroom, on the field and one the stage,” said Dr. Kuncham. “You are amazing individuals, you are truly changemakers and your humility has been something that has always touched me, even as your list of accomplishments continues to grow.”

The Freeport Board of Education, administration and staff would like to congratulate Freeport High School’s Class of 2024 top 10 on this academic achievement and thank the Freeport Education Foundation for their continued support of our schools.
