Jean Mejia, a Freeport High School senior and captain of the varsity soccer team, has earned the distinction of being named among Newsday’s Top 100 Soccer Players for a second consecutive year. This is not Mejia’s first time being recognized for his notable soccer skills. Mejia, who plays forward, earned All-County Honors in his junior year and All-Conference Honors in his sophomore year.
"Mejia is a fourth-year starter and second-year captain who had four goals and four assists last season,” varsity coach Craig Klasson said. “He is an exceptional playmaker and facilitator who possesses game vision quickness, power and intelligence.”
